Billy Joel - Storm Front
Being my first Billy Joel album, this album has always stood out to me. My favorite songs are 'Shameless', 'Leningrad' and 'I Go To Extremes.' 'We Didn't Start the Fire' would be on there too, but I'm sure you heard a little too much of it during the 1990's. |
 |
Billy Joel - River of Dreams
This album features a much more mature Billy Joel. Since there was a four year gap between his last album and this one, it seems very well written and arranged. You can see the progression from youthful rage to mature passiveness through the course of the album. My favorite tracks are 'Blonde over Blue', '2000 years', and 'Famous Last Words.' |
 |
Gin Blossoms - New Miserable Experience
The Arizona fivesome became a huge hit with this 1992 release, which never really started selling till 1993. With a rebellious yet clean rock sound, they attracted alternative and pop fans alike. Some of their best hits included 'Hey Jealousy', 'Hold Me Down' and 'Cajun Song', which added a little Cajun flavor to their rock sound. |
 |
Billy Joel - Glass Houses
Being a huge Billy Joel fan, its tough to pick just a few of his albums I like the best, but this is definitely one of them. This album has a nice clean rock sound and my favorite songs are actually the ones that ended up NOT being singles. These include 'All for Leyna', 'I Don't Want to be Alone Anymore', 'Sleeping with the Television On' and 'Through the Long Night.' |
 |
Green Day - Dookie
This is another of the fun, immature albums that try not to take music to seriously. My favorite tracks are 'She', 'Basket Case', and 'Pulling Teeth.' It brings back great memories of 9th grade, when Green Day was new and different. |
 |
Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell II: Back into Hell
This album features some very strange music, as well my favorite rock ballad of all time. My favorite tracks are 'Everything Louder Than Everything Else', 'I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)' and 'Rock and Roll Dreams Come True'. I'm not
really sure how I started listening to this album. |
 |
Gin Blossoms - Congratulations I'm Sorry
This 1996 follow-up to the 1992 Hit "New Miserable Experience" gave us 13 more tracks of good clean rock. My favorite songs are 'Whitewash', 'Day Job', and 'Follow You Down.' |
 |
Elton John - Made In England
Elton John's first album after the 'Lion King' soundtrack was a welcome revisitation of his rock roots. His songs like 'Made in England', 'Belfast' and 'Latitude'
were incredibly arranged. In 'Latitude,' he describes London city-life so exquisitely. My other favorite tracks are 'Pain,' and 'House.' |
 |
No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom
Wow this one brings back memories from High School. Gwen has an awesome voice and their sound is very different, which I definitely appreciate. My favorite songs are 'The Climb', 'Sunday Morning', and 'Hey You.' Although I would like to hear songs about something more than Tony and Gwen's relationship occasionally. |
 |
Elton John - The Big Picture
This album was released in 1997 and never got much clout from the critics. I, for one, liked it. Elton explored his newer 'refined' sound some more and put out
some great songs, like 'The Big Picture', 'Wicked Dream' and the big hit 'The Way you look tonight.' |
 |
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - She's The One
Jupin and I listened to this one a lot as freshmen in the dorms. Its the soundtrack to the movie 'She's the One,' with Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz. My favorite tracks are 'Walls,' 'Change the Locks,' and 'California.' |
 |
Ben Folds Five - Whatever and Ever Amen
This album has a little bit of everything to it. Its happy, angry, resentful, you name it. My favorite tracks are 'Steven's Last Night in Town', 'Smoke', and 'Kate.' The biggest singles from this album are 'Brick' and 'The Battle of Who Could Care Less.' They're also really great songs. |
 |
Blink 182 - Enema of the State
This album is fun and immature, good stuff. Although the singles got overplayed way too much, there are still some other good tracks on this album. My favorites are 'Dysentery Gary', 'Aliens Exist' and
'Dumpweed.' Blink 182 is one of the few bands that can truly
make me laugh. |
 |
Ben Folds Five - The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner
Some of my favorites on this albums include 'Lullabye', 'Army', and 'Narcolepsy'. The whole album has a very eerie feel to it, The piano riffs are awesome though. This one is an acquired taste. |
 |
Britney Spears - Oops ... I Did It Again
I started listening to this album while on co-op on Texas. Its a fun pop album, nothing more, nothing less. |
 |
Ben Folds - Rockin' the Suburbs
Ben Folds does it again! This is his first solo album since the band broke up. The best songs are "Gone," "Losing Lisa," and "Annie Waits." I wasn't a big fan of the title track until I really started listening to it and realized he was making fun of the Limp Bizkits and Britney Spears of the world. He goes one step further by making the song sound like your typical MTV 'rebellion' music. |
 |
Alkaline Trio - From Here to Infirmary
My favorite Alkaline Trio album. I can't even think of what songs are my favorites because I like 'em all so much. I guess if I had to pick, I'd go with the first 6 tracks and then the 9th song, 'I'm Dying Tomorrow.' |
 |
Alkaline Trio - Maybe I'll Catch Fire
'Radio' and 'Fuck You Aurora' were the first two songs I learned on the guitar. I also like 'You've Got So Far To Go' and the title Track. |
